IR-Thermography

With the infrared thermography (IR-thermography) can make temperatures and temperature differences of objects visible. Here, the intensity of the radiation is recorded, which is emitted the heated objects
In solar modules or module strings temperature differences are important. The analysis of thermal abnormalities gives facts about deficiencies or weaknesses.
For a reliable measurement an irradiance of 500 W / m² is required. In addition, a suitable recording angle of the solar module is necessary.

With the IR thermography, for example, the following abnormalities in a solar module can be identified:

  • Modules with thermally conspicuous cells
  • Shorts in modules
  • Locations in or on solar cells
  • Diodes error
  • Idle operation of installed modules

The following is seen a thermographic recording of a module, which has cells with large temperature differences.
